Ambassador Spotlight – November 2017 – Nicole Grimes

November Spotlight: Nicole Grimes
Gold Country Community Services

The Greater Grass Valley Chamber of Commerce is pleased to spotlight Nicole Grimes of Gold Country Community Services. Grass Valley has been home for Nicole since she and her family moved to Nevada County in 1999 from the Bay Area.

The opportunity to work for Gold Country Community Services, as an Executive Assistant, arose and Nicole was thrilled to take on a new challenge and direction with such a well-established community-based non-profit. Working for an organization focused on providing basic needs to local seniors was the emotional and directional change Nicole needed. “GCCS is a service organization built on a tremendous amount of volunteer effort. Surrounded by individuals that uphold our mission, and are willing to donate their valuable time, fosters a wonderfully supportive environment that I am lucky to work in.”

Overseeing classes and activities at the LOVE Building and managing programs like the Senior Firewood Program allow Nicole to have contact with many members of the community, donors, clients, and volunteers. “I am a social person, and I love how GCCS and my position allows for so much individualized contact with so many members of our community; whether they are calling to ask about our Nutrition Program, the LOVE Building, or even calling to ask for general information and assistance.”

Nicole joined as an Ambassador earlier this year, initially to reconnect with the community she had been away from while attending college at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, but has already found the experience been invaluable in creating strong relationships with other active members of Nevada County.  “The Chamber is a fantastic support group that provides educational opportunities, networking events, and goes above and beyond to promote their members. Commercial or Non-Profit, the Chamber has resources to help promote each unique organization. We have been so fortunate that recognition with the Chamber has provided us with many volunteers, donors, and supporters which help in our continued effort to ensure older adults have nutritional meals, warm homes, and plenty of social interaction.”
