Ambassador Spotlight – October 2017 – Gina Ramos

October Spotlight: Gina Ramos
Maria’s Mexican Restaurant

The Greater Grass Valley Chamber of Commerce is pleased to spotlight Gina Ramos of Maria’s Mexican Restaurant. Gina Ramos and her family moved to Nevada County in 1981 from Visalia, California. Gina first started out working for UPS and after 4 ½ years she decided she would like to change directions and became a salesperson at Sierra Timberline in Grass Valley, Gina realized how much she wanted to work where she could socialize more. After several years of working at Sierra Timberline Gina wanted to switch careers and made the move to work for her mom, Maria, at Maria’s Mexican Restaurant. Gina has done it all at Maria’s – from bartending, serving, washing dishes to now being the manager, Gina simply says, “ I love this business, every day is not the same and our staff has become my extended family.” Maria’s Mexican Restaurant has been a member of the Greater Grass Valley Chamber for 20 plus years. Gina goes on to say “we wanted to be a part of an organization that not only cared about our business but also for our community.” Maria’s is all about community, every year Maria’s donates thousands of dollars to our local non-profits and charities. Giving back is very important to Gina and Maria’s.

“After being invited to my first Ambassadors meeting and listening to what they do I was hooked with enthusiasm! Everyone was committed to each other’s success and the partnership they provided for one another was moving. This August we hosted our first mixer with well over 100 attendees. I feel that it’s important to join our business relationships together in an environment that promotes support, trust, and confidence in one another. Being able to promote ourselves through the Chamber, and as an Ambassador is allowing our business to grow. This has been a huge contribution to our company.”

Gina is very committed to her family. Gina lights up when she mentions her family, “I have a beautiful daughter and 3 stepchildren, my partner and I enjoy working out together and competing in NPC Bodybuilding competitions.”

Gina’s advice to other business owners, “Love what you do, it’s not easy owning a business. Joining the Chamber is a great avenue to let you know you’re not alone.”
