AMBASSADORS of the MONTH

The Greater Grass Valley Chamber of Commerce is pleased to spotlight two dynamic Ambassadors for the month of June

The Greater Grass Valley Chamber is pleased to present Denise Johnson of Craig Johnson Plumbing as one of our Spotlights for the month of June 2019.

Denise has been an active Ambassador since 2014. Along with Jennie Sparks, she co-chairs the Retention and Recruitment Committee for the Ambassadors. In addition, Denise enjoys volunteering for Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies and Chamber Mixers. The Ambassador Committee has been a positive experience for Denise, as she has made many new friends since joining the group. Denise’s positive energy and can-do attitude is mirrored by her fellow Ambassadors.

Since 2004, Denise and her husband Craig have been successfully running their family plumbing business. Craig Johnson Plumbing serves the Nevada County area with a full range of plumbing and rooting services. Craig and Denise Johnson work together to provide excellent customer service and plumbing solutions.

Along with the time she donate to the Chamber of Commerce, Denise is very active in other areas of our community, including being an avid supporter and volunteer of and for The Friendship Club. She loves what they do for our area girls through mentoring and providing support from 6th grade through high school.

Denise has two adult daughters who both attended grammar through high school in Grass Valley. Her oldest daughter served in the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman and her youngest just graduated from CSU Chico State.

In her spare time Denise loves to travel and explore. She’s on the go and makes it a point to see as much live entertainment as possible, locally and anywhere there’s a good show. We love her spirit and zest for life.

Denise exemplifies what a Chamber of Commerce Ambassador is all about – enthusiastic, outgoing, and a true believer in the power of community to help local businesses succeed.

The Greater Grass Valley Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors are excited to spotlight Jennie Sparks of Absolute Communication Solutions for the month of June. Jennie’s been an outstanding member of our group for nearly three years.

Jennie has been with Absolute Communication Solutions since 2007. She started in the field with her husband, Eric, and then found her niche with Human Resources. She’s very passionate about Human Resources.  She became a member of SHRM in 2009 and in the Spring of 2017, after her hard work and dedication, she received her SHRM-CP certification.

As a member of the Society for Human Resources Management, Sierra Human Resources Association and CalChamber she’s able to receive the support she needs as an HR professional. Jennie values her memberships and the personal connections that she’s made with her peers. Jennie strives to keep up to date on all things HR, so that she can provide their business and employees with relative and real time information. In July 2018 Jennie joined the Board for the Sierra Human Resources Association as the Community/External Relations Chair, during her two-year term, she hopes to be able to give back to the HR community that has supported her through the years.

As an Ambassador for the Greater Grass Valley Chamber of Commerce Jennie has had the opportunity to give back to her community by volunteering at events hosted by the GGVCC. Through Ribbon Cuttings and Mixers, she’s been able to network with other business owners and welcome them to the Chamber. The personal connections that Jennie’s made at the Chamber are priceless. Jennie goes on to say, “It’s a great group of business owners, employees and individual members who are committed to improving our community through fundraising, volunteering and networking”.

Jennie is modest when it comes to how much she has done for the Ambassador committee; she’s always the first one with her hand up to help. Also, she’s co-chaired the Ambassador Retention Committee as well as stepped up to the vacancy for the Ambassador Secretary position and has even run a meeting or two. Jennie is an exceptional Ambassador and human being. We are fortunate to have her on our team.

Jennie loves spending time with her friends and family in Nevada County. Jennie makes time to enjoy our community events and is a real Nevada County wine buff. She loves to make time for non-profits as well as supporting new business owners at ribbon cuttings.
