Welcome to Grass Valley, located in western Nevada County. Our area is the heart of the historic California Gold Country known as the Mother Lode. Grass Valley, Nevada City and neighboring communities have beautifully preserved the historic flavor from the Gold Rush days. Western Nevada County is home to three California State Parks, you have the opportunity to visit gold mines, homes of mining entrepreneurs, foundries, railroad museums, a gold rush mining museum, learn gold panning, and much more.
Located in the beautiful Sierra Foothills, hiking, boating, camping, golf, horseback riding and much more are at your doorstep. Local farmers, ranches and vineyards provide organic and locally grown fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses and wines! To sample the delicious flavors of our community, visit our farmers markets from April through November in various location. Each summer, they are a big part of the Thursday Night Market in downtown Grass Valley and Nevada City’s Summer Nights street festivals. We are home to a vibrant visual arts and performing arts community. The Grass Valley Visitors Center is a showcase for these exciting organizations, so do come and experience what’s being presented for your entertainment! Visit galleries and attend delightful theatrical performances.
Pocket sized Nevada County Visitor Guides and Calendar of Events are available at the Grass Valley Visitors Information Center, and mailed free of charge. Relocation Packages, tailored to your specific needs, are available at the Visitors Center, and will be mailed for $15.00 postage charge. The Grass Valley Chamber’s Visitors Center is open 7 days a week, 360 days each year.
Our hours of operation are:
Monday: 11 am to 3:00 pm; Tuesday through Friday: 10 am to 4 pm; Saturday and Sunday: 11 am to 3:00 pm; Federal Holidays: 11 am to 3:00 pm.
Closed: New Year’s Day; Easter Sunday; Thanksgiving Day; Christmas Eve & Christmas Day
